Fukushima is not a city where people can live.

Radioactive Japan: Fukushima Girls Road Race Is On, Right Now, Again

How time flies. It seems like only yesterday that Ireported on the “ekiden” road race held in high-radiation Fukushima City, with girls as young as 13 years old.

It’s on this year again. They did it last year, when the contamination was more severe. So why not this year?

Thanks for the variety of articles here. I attended the wet, soggy protest last night in Tokyo, and am glad to know that 7,00 0 to 8,000 were reported in attendance….still, the organizers had hoped for a full day, beginning in Hibiya Koen, and were hoping for a much larger turnout. I especially thank you for the NHK World program on decontamination. That’s one of my personal areas of interest, and I look forward to watching the whole thing. I’m re-posting as well. Keep up the good work.

    • Thank you for checking in, Ruth, and for attending the protests. Continued pressure from moms and dads, grandmothers and grandfathers, in the streets saying NO to the use of nuclear power in Japan WILL have an effect. Even if the numbers dwindle during the winter, with the spring the people will emerge and take up the call once again. Let’s hope they won’t have to — that the gov’t puts an end to NP here soon.
