There is a very large, strong typhoon headed toward Japan. For folks in the Nagoya/Aichi area (and family and friends around the world who might be worried), if there is anything important to report, I’ll be posting here on Sunday.

Quick news recap for today – short, as very few MSM are reporting any thing on the crisis at FD1 and surrounding areas (like the rest of Japan if you include spreading the debris around, the food, the ocean water and rivers, etc.). Even the alternative news media has few stories – or have I just missed them?

EX-SKF has some excellent coverage of the steel frame that fell the other day, complete with videos and pictures.

Everybody sing along!

“Your comp’ny keeps lifting the wall higher and higher”

Here’s the article about Chubu Elec.’s fantasy that it’s wall could prevent another FD1 – it won’t, of course IF the tsunami were to follow a quake in the Tokai area that was the size of the one on 3.11. If every pipe, wall, electrical cable, and control room were to survive unscathed, well, maybe. Or are those details simply “beyond our expectations”?

Tritium leakage from reactor 5 and 6

On 9/21/2012, Tepco released the nuclear analysis result of radioactive materials in the sea water.

The samples were taken on 4/16 and 5/14, so their release is 5 ~ 4 months behind.

The result shows 3.8 ~ 6.0 Bq/L of tritium leakage from around reactor 5 and 6 (North of Unit 5-6 Discharge Channel).

Tepco evaluates it is from the Fukushima accident.  From April to May, the tritium amount increased.

And some more happy news (not), this next piece. Lest we forget, however, that the crisis at Fukushima was NOT entirely due to the tsunami (as Chubu Electric Company would have us believe. They are saying that a new 18-metre “tsunami wall” would be enough to withstand a 23-metre tsunami.) It was due to pipes rupturing, parts creaking, walls cracking, cables breaking, and other “natural” happenings normally due to an extremely powerful earthquake AS WELL AS human error in the design of the whole damn thing.

But I digress. Here, we speak of the risk of tsunamis.

Just a quick entry tonight. Stopped by the demo in Nagoya this evening. Not as many children tonight as usual, but that may be because school is back in session and many have school tomorrow, Saturday.

Will include 2 pics from my antiquated cell phone. Apologies for the poor quality. COPYRIGHT FREE!

In the lower picture, it says, “Yamero Osprey, Genpatsu” (Stop Osprey and Nuclear Power). There have been many protests in Okinawa against Japan buying Osprey from the U.S. because of it’s bad record of safety, among other reasons. So many people of Okinawa have been fed up with the U.S. military bases there and all the problems the servicemen have caused. Yes, having the bases there has created jobs, but many say their safety and that of their children is at risk.

So now that protest is spilling over into this one in Nagoya, at least with one protester and one sign.

Seems as though Japan’s relations with China is the next buffalo that the media flies are going to be following for a while (to borrow a metaphor from Arundhati Roy). Most of the headlines yesterday and today in MSM were about that issue.  Let’s see what (and who) is covering Japan’s nuclear crisis on this, the 558th day after 3.11.
